Hermina Ketring: >Do you believe there will be a device that can plug into the brain for recreation in our lifetime.?No. You can be sure beyond reasonable doubt that they will not be possible or available. The problem is the last 6". Two big reasons:-Every brain is wired differently. Essentially each one wires itself based on it's unique experiences in life (plus whatever genetics it starts with). The closest thing that will be available are devices to give blind people some amount of sight. But at best people will have to "learn" to see with the devices. In other words it will not automatically work, once the device is surgically implanted the person's brain has to learn how to interpenetrate the signals as "sight".-Brains do massively parallel processing. So to affect all the senses you would have to add wiring to most on the brain. Attempting to do so would damage the brain. > Do you think they would allow this to reach the public. A tool like that could make people ! equal in knowledge and that's dangerous. Surely you joke. If such devices existed they would mostly be used to play the equivalent of fancy video games. As if the current generation isn't wasting enough of their potential doing that with current video entertainment....Show more
