Special Ed teachers have to work with a lot of paperwork and red tape, lots of meetings and tracking down parents for signatures, doing lesson plans for kids that! are all at different levels of study, dealing with a multitud! e of behaviors and dealing with teachers who don't want to have to make accommodations for special needs kids. I have learned to be tough, to be just aggressive enough that the kids don't walk all over me. I have also been near tears when I hear a student read a passage with a clear voice and fluency. Then I know I have helped open the world to that student through books. It is a team effort and one that makes an incredible difference in the life of one kid. Hilde Heskett: starts from the age of 5, and its whats commonly known as primary school. they're taught very simplistic concepts and ideas with lots of fun and games. they are examined through whats known as the CATS at around the age of 8 and continue primary school until the age of 11. from 11 onwards, they start whats known as secondary school, and learn individual subjects (maths, science, physical education, english, personal and social education (PSE), religious education, drama, art, music, history, geography, design technology, home economics, textiles, woodwork, languages). all these are manditory and are examined through what are called the SATS at age 13. at age 14, pupils are given the option to chose which of these subjucts they would like to carry on to a GCSE level. out of the subjects they studied before, they can pick 8 to carry on with to GCSE level. english science and maths are manditory. for the next 2 years they study their chosen subjects and create! coursework, which counts as a percentage to their final grade. at the age of 16 they take GCSE examinations and are graded A*-E and U (for ungraded, ie. fail). from here they leave manditory education, and the GCSE's they have the most fundimental qualifications in the UK. they dont qualify you to do anything in particular, just show that you are an able, competant and intelligent individual.from here, they have the opertunity to study for a further education through an A-level system at a college. they are a 2 year long course in more complex and specific subejects (e.g. media studies, economics, photography, english language, english literature, etc). If you pass the first year, you have whats called AS levels, and on the completeion of the second, they turn into A Levels. these are graded on a scale of A-E. these are more specifically required for an entrance into university and dont qualify you to do anything. Alise Rutgers: It is really important to ask this question to someone in your state. In CA, a biology degree is not "good enough" to teach. You still have to take a biology test to fulfill competency requirements. However, I thought is was fairly easy to pass. Also, CA requires an additional year of credential courses regardless of the major. One more note to make, (if it matters to you) usually "biology for teaching" major is usually a B.A. rather than a B.S. but at a CSU this degree allows you to teach all sciences which may make you more appealing to high schools. Just a suggestion, substitute first to see if you like it before you commit but keep in mind how mean students can be to subs....Show more

Oscar Waddups: When I was in 7th grade I really wanted to be home schooled as well. My mom couldn't do it though, and no matter how much I begged she would always so no. I spent my entire 7th grade school year miserable and alone and hating the other kids. Then 8th grade came along, and while it didn't get better immediately I resolved that I would stop caring what the other kids thought and try to be myself. I also worked really hard to get over the speech impediment that held me back. I eventually learned that happiness is what you make of it, and sometimes you just have to find the little things that make life worth getting out of bed.It sucks you have to be at school, but trust me, the sooner you learn how to be comfortable in your own skin and say "screw it" to anyone that makes you feel less than you are, the easier life can be! For me, my parents can't do it either, but they - for some bizarre reason - don't trust online studies. So, what I'm doing is going to school once a week for two hours to ask questions, get work and maybe take a quiz, then for the rest of the week I do all the work at home. I like that system because you still have someone to answer any questions you have in person, but it's really not like you're at school for long at all, more like having a tutor for two hours. Alexander Villas: depends on which one you buy.if you get one with wireless then you can connect to a wireless router the same way you can with a laptop. you will need to know the network password for these and it should'nt cost you any extra. you can buy wireless access to sites like BT openzone etc which you can connect to the internet if you are in range of any of their routers (airports, cafes etc).If you buy one that also acts as a mobile phone you can normal get internet access that way as well if you are willing to pay.HTH...Show more
