Brittanie Zakutney: I work at a church preschool with 3 year olds. My students are at school 3 hours a day, 3 times a week. Our school is a play-based preschool, which means the kids learn through play. I am also a mom of two.Kids get a lot out of being in the structured environment of preschool. With the 3's we work on fine motor skills. We want them to be holding pencils and scissors correctly and we build their hand strengh by working with playdoh, tearing paper, and other craft activities. At our school we also have movement class in the gym. They work on gross motor skills, burn energy, and learn the basics about sports and exercise. In the classroom, kids learn how to listen and follow directions, sit quietly in a group and listen to stories. They learn to practice self control, keep their hands to themselves, share, play, and be a nice friend.I could go on and on. I didn't send my daughter to preschool until she was 4 because I was home and I thought it was! my job to take care of her. Now that I'm in the preschool environment, I see that the kids get SO much out of being there. The ultimate goal is to get the kids ready to go to kindergarten when it's time.If your daughter is excited about going to school, she will love it....Show more
Merna Fauset: yes we will be visiting the school before we send her but not until next month. since she won't be starting until January we decided to wait so the kids that are attending now have gotten used to it a little and are into their routine so we can see what a normal day is like not the frantic scramble of the first week. my daughter is very excited about going to school and i was just wanting to hear from other parents who have already been through this.
Sheldon Lally: my son is 4 and just started preschool this year. my personal feelings is that 3 is to young. both my kids started at the age of 4. but to answer your question. at his preschool they have 2 week lessons. f! or example this 2 weeks is all about family. they have family ! pics up and do activities for the family. his normal day (half day) includes: get there at 12:30pm play in the activity stations, go play out side come in wash hands have snack have rug time (learning time) go back outside then come home at 3:15! it is more so they play and interact with other children. last year my daughter learned all her letters and numbers in preschool. they really dont need to know how to do anything but maybe say there name and age! the one here is great! they have field trips and the teachers are great! the first day of school is like a rule day they go over rules and introduce themselves. but they love it! your daughter will be so exicited!...Show more
