Can anybody guess at what time the movie " Memento" was set in ?

Heidy Fujikake: Well, the movie came out in the late 90s. Cell phones and PDAs weren't nearly what they are today. The iPhone was still more than half a decade away from the public. Texting wasn't a word.... and that was just when the movie released.As for when the movie itself took place. It could have been as late as the mid-90s, I would think.Further, the main character explains that he tried to take and keep written notes, but it didn't work.
